Jeff Teague is undefeated as a storyteller and has another hilarious one for the fans. In the Club 520 podcast, the one-time NBA All-Star told a story about how CJ Miles subtly clapped back at Paul George after a Game 4 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“I don’t know if y’all remember the series, but I remember Game 1. CJ had a shot at the buzzer to win. He took it and he missed and PG said, ‘I gotta have that shot.‘
So, CJ was my man, and CJ was like, ‘Teague, was that a bad shot?’ I said, ‘Bruh, that’s the best shot we can get. If you damn near hit that MF.’ No BS, in Game 4, the same exact s— happened. They threw it to CJ, that nigga CJ fired that b—- to PG, and he missed it. He hit like side of the backboard, tough ass shot, not even come close.
We get in the locker room, I’m like, ‘Damn, season over.’ I’m about to go to the crib, time to go have some fun. This n—- CJ, he did me like this. (shows phone) It was the Gatorade commercial with the shot on the clock. Somebody had made it and he had bricked that b—-. I as like, I was rolling! But they added like where they bricked the shot, bruh. I was rolling!
My fault, CJ. Don’t shoot me bruh. That s— was just funny.“
Jeff Teague on CJ Miles
Just a little context about the series: it was the 2017 NBA playoffs. It was the only season Teague played in Indiana and he did pretty well for himself. He led the team in assists and second in points per game behind George. In addition, the Indiana native played 82 games and started in all of them.
However, they met LeBron James and the Cavaliers that postseason and it was over in an instant. Besides, there was a reason why the Cavs let Miles shoot that potential game-winner. He averaged just seven points in the series on 46 percent shooting, with five of his teammates going for double digits.
That said, it was a hilarious anecdote by Teague and a testament to why he’s got the craziest stories out of all NBA podcasters out there. The 2021 NBA champion considers anyone a fair game and never takes himself too seriously.
